2) Seven young women and one Math teacher accused of prostitution

Authorities in Banes, Holguín province, arrested seven young women and a Mathematics instructor May 5, under charges of engaging in prostitution.

The arrests were made at the home of the teacher, identified as Fulgencio Donta, according to Guillermo Llanos Ricardo, a human rights activist in the province.

The women were supposedly posing for pornographic photographs and videos, according to the charges. Those operating the cameras were all foreigners; it was not reported that any of them were arrested.

The eight arrested were taken, two of them under handcuffs, in patrol cars to the Prostitution Detention Center in Holguín city, and authorities notified the women's families that they would be held until they are tried.

Llanos Ricardo said raids such as these are becoming more common lately. Recently several students were taken to the Detention Center after they were arrested in the vicinity of night clubs to which only foreigners are admitted.
